Bury Athenaeum, which dates back to 1852, is a charitable organization that aims to facilitate activities for the ‘moral, intellectual, and cultural’ benefit of the citizens of Bury. It currently hosts a wide range of activities, including bridge, embroidery, creative writing, a widow’s association, plus a wide range of U3A groups.
Each year, dependent on the level of any operating surplus, it also makes grants available to other local charities who broadly meet its own charitable objectives. Many charities have received grants in the past, including Bury Music Centre, Tottington Library, Radcliffe Male Voice Choir, and the Phoenix Youth and Community Centre.
Grant applications are now invited for the year 2024. Applications, describing how any grant money would be spent, should be sent to Neville Edmondson, Chair of Trustees, Bury Athenaeum, Moss Street, Bury BL9 0DF. Applications should be received by 28th February 2024.
