Evolve Family Law follows the ‘John Lewis’ model as it converts to an employee-owned business Evolve Family Law is delighted to announce that it has become an employee-owned business through the creation of an employee ownership trust (EOT). The EOT means the firm’s 14 employees now own the thriving boutique family and private client law firm, whilst the founders, Louise Halford and Robin Charrot, will remain at the helm for the long-term future to help clients and to continue to guide the business.
Why move to employee ownership trust status?
Perhaps the most well-known employee-owned business is John Lewis, famous for its workforce being partners in the business and owning a share in it. However, many other employee focused businesses are following this model, including Go Ape, Richer Sounds, and now Evolve Family Law.
For Louise and Robin, employee ownership is a perfect fit with the Evolve ethos that being in the business of law isn’t all about profit. Instead, it is about providing excellent levels of client service first and foremost, treating your employees well and giving them a vested interest in the business.
Robin Charrot says, ‘’When Louise and I founded Evolve back in 2015 we both had a very clear vision of the sort of law firm we wanted to create. Our vision was an approachable community-based law firm that put our clients at ease during some of the most difficult times in their lives. Just as importantly, we wanted our lawyers and support staff to be positive about coming into work because they enjoyed the work environment we had created.
‘’Over the past seven years, we’ve grown the firm sustainably while bringing new people into the fold to share in our success. The decision to become an employee-owned business was the natural next step for Evolve. It reinforces our commitment to our family of private client and family solicitors and to our team of support staff and gives them an even greater stake in the continued success of Evolve and a platform from which we can continue to grow.’’
What is different about an employee-owned business?
From a client’s perspective it is very much business as normal at Evolve Family Law. You will not notice anything different about our Holmes Chapel or Whitefield offices; it is still the same friendly and efficient legal service from lawyers who care about you and your family. Behind the scenes our employees may have more of a spring in their step as everyone is 100% committed, as business owners, to the continued success of the firm.
