Winter Sun


Although the Christmas period is a festive month it can often feel the coldest. Whether it’s freezing fog, windy damp days or frozen windscreen that takes us by surprise when we are already late for work, the weather in the UK can often make you want to jump on a plane and relax somewhere hot for a while. If you are reading this and agree then keep reading as we have suggested the best destination to travel to for that winter sun.

The Canary Islands are probably the closest place to the UK to find winter sun and most reliable for genuine warmth, rarely dropping below 20. Tenerife, is primarily famous for beach hotels of the Playa de las Americas and Costa Adeje But also offers a variety of activities and volcanic hiking experiences along with plenty of excellent restaurants within the vibrant capital of Santa Cruz.

Things to do
A visit to Tenerife wouldn’t be complete with experiencing a cable cart ride with mesmerising views over the Spanish archipelago to the summit of Mount Teide for the best excursion of the islands highest volcano. A taste of Tenerifes historic towns, first class heritage architecture and tropical gardens are found in the north of the island along with a host of the best walking routes. Visit the south of the island for water parks such as Siam Park and themes parks such as Loro Parque, Tenerifes biggest and best attractions. Additional draws include, whale and dolphin watching, ultimate golf courses, diving in the warm waters and great shopping scene with mouth watering tapas tasting breaks along the way.

Where to stay
Most of the tourist areas are situated in the South of Tenerife, where visitors will have a better shot of experiencing the all year round sun and climate. Popular destinations in the south include, Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos. For families, Los Cristianos is ideal, an old fishing town with sandy beaches and a children play ground. If you are looking for a quieter holiday there are many other places which are more private and attract less trourists such as, Callao Salvaje, Playa de San Juan, Garachico all still having unique charm.
