Residents are being invited to get moving and enjoy the outdoors at a new weekly Radcliffe Community Health Walk.

The first walk takes place on Thursday 11 January and is part of the Bury – Walk with Me Walking for Health programme of walks, which are free and are led by trained volunteers.

Walkers should meet at 1pm at Radcliffe Metrolink car park entrance, where walk leaders Jean Foster and Evan Parker will take you on a 90-minute walk.

This circular walk crosses the pedestrian crossing, passing the former Radcliffe Leisure Centre and heads along the ‘banana path’ to the old canal side.

Walkers can enjoy the countryside and associated wildlife for approximately 1.2miles until reaching a view of Elton Reservoir, where the walk then turns down Hinds Lane along the River Irwell. From there the walk continues through to Bury Road and the entrance to the Newbank Garden Centre, where walkers can enjoy a well-earned coffee/tea break before continuing with the return walk back to the Metrolink Station.

Please note: While this walk is mainly flat and uses established pathways, it may be muddy in places (especially after bad weather) and includes crossing a short field path and tram lines. Walkers are advised to wear sturdy, comfortable footwear and a warm, waterproof coat.
