You’re Not Here

I hear a sound whilst in kitchen making tea, I rush back into the living room…
But you’re not here anymore, now it’s just me.

I buy some items at the local shop and just about to buy you a treat, but then I stop For you’re not here anymore, now it’s just me.

I open my front door to expect to hear the rush of sound
But I’m greeted by the deafening silence that’s profound

As you’re not here anymore, now it’s just me.

I grab my coat to go on our usual walk But you’re not here anymore, now it’s just me.

I walk outside in a bit of a daze, I ask myself If ever my emptiness will fade.
I wipe away tears from my eyes whilst I watch the enjoyment of peoples pets bring with the odd funny surprise.

Yet as I look down at my feet, all I can see Is you’re not here anymore.
My precious, brave, loyal loving dog

You’re not here anymore, now …it’s just me!
