Scott Allen has been a popular stall holder on Bury’s famous market for over 20 years and his face has even appeared on advertising boards and other printed material promoting the market.

Last year Scott was called upon to look after his grandad, who is 90 years old and suffers with slight dementia, while his carer was on holiday. That was over a year ago and he is still looking after him and going that extra mile.

Having talked and listened to family and his regular market customers Scott decided to embark on a new business providing general help to people in and around their home.

Scott said, “For over a year I’ve really enjoyed looking after my grandad and helping with the little jobs that he’s struggling with, like shopping or making a meal. It occurred to me that there must be a lot more people out there that need some extra help in the home.”

“I eventually came up with the name Man Friday, as it’s described in the dictionary as ‘a male assistant who provides helps and is loyal and can be trusted’.”

“A close friend recently had to be hospitalised for over a month and her husband asked me could I do a one off clean before she came home. She was so impressed with her husband’s cleaning! He never told her it was Man Friday!”
