Late Autumn Review

The Shakers started October with two wins, a solid 1-0 win over Blackburn in the EFL Trophy, and an extraordinary win and performance in a 3-1 win over play-off hopefuls Bradford. From there the remaining four games of the month brought four league losses against Blackpool (2-1), Southend (1-0), Oldham (2-1) and Doncaster (1-0). This poor run of results saw gaffer Lee Clark relieved of his duties, after eight months in charge and with Bury 23rd in the League. Moving into November, Ryan Lowe was given the reigns on a temporary basis, and in his first game in charge drew one all with Woking in the FA Cup. This was followed up with a 3-1 win over Stoke U23 in the EFL Trophy, to secure Bury’s place in the next round. However, despite this positive start, things turned sour over the next three games, as a 1-1 draw with Gillingham was followed up with back to back three nil losses to Non-league Woking (in the FA Cup) and Blackburn. When the current League leaders- Shrewsbury, came to Gigg Lane not much was expected, therefore it was a surprise to more or less everyone when Bury took a one nil lead, and held on, to give Ryan Lowe his first league win in his final game as caretaker manager.

Bury FC legend, Chris Lucketti was appointed as Lee Clark’s permanent replacement, and took a point against Northampton (0-0) in his first game in charge. This means Bury sit 23rd in the league and three points from safety, with 26 games left to play.
