January Update

bury-fc-header-2016-17

Signs of improved performances have started to show in results, as Bury recover from two losses at the start of the year. Bury had played pretty well in a tough run of four straight fixtures against teams in the top six, with draws against Fleetwood and Bradford followed by defeat against league leaders Sheffield United and away at Scunthorpe, who are currently second.

The Shakers bounced back in some style after the defeat at Scunthorpe, with a thumping 5-1 home win against Peterborough and a creditable 2-2 draw away at Port Vale. Man of the moment is star striker James Vaughen, who’s bagged 6 goals in these last 2 matches. New head coach Chris Brass appears to be turning things around and has also fielded a lot of youngsters in recent matches who have performed with credit.

Danny Mayor is close to returning to action and Bury have also signed 34-year-old Jermaine Pennant on a short-term deal. The former Liverpool and Arsenal winger, had been training with Bury for a few weeks has signed until the end of the season. Let’s hope the improvement continues and pulls the Shakers out of their current relegation position. Come On BURY!
