Wine Showcase

with Joe & Dave Banks of Crowded House, Bury

Joe & Dave gained their extensive wine knowledge from working many years on luxury cruise ships, Joe as the Bar Manager & Dave as the Food & Beverage Director. Between them they claim to have tasted some of the world’s most infamous wines, so not surprisingly they are passionate about the wine choices they have on their exclusive wine list at Crowded House.

“Our aim is to bring great tasting, great value wines to our valued customers from across the globe, safe in the knowledge they have been hand-picked and of course tasted by us!!!”

• Our Signature Wine – Crowded House Sauvignon Blanc NZ
You’ll have a Crowded House when you crack open this smart savvy from Marlborough. No-one will be able to resist the taste, the vitality, the utter refreshment when this has been chilled to perfection. It’s layered in citrus, passionfruit and redolent of lime leaf and lemongrass. Zesty with the refreshment of a citrus granita, a core of sweetness but refreshing, clean acids, this wine just needs a summer’s day, and some seafood to shine.

• Casa Rivas Chardonnay Chilli
Expensive-tasting, elegant, spicy Chilean Chardonnay made at century-old Viña Tarapacá. Their 2, 600 hectare Rosario de Naltagua plot lies in a loop of the Maipo River, 40 minutes’ invigorating drive south of Santiago. Ideal growing conditions, notably cold nights and hot days, produce stylish, characterful wines like this.

• Norton Finca La Colonia Malbec
Argentina Minimal treatments are used in the vineyards, which are run along virtually organic lines. All the grapes are hand picked. Fermentation lasted 7 days using only natural yeast. No oak was used, and the wine was bottled relatively early as a pure varietal expression.
The colour is deep inky red, showing sweet and spicy aromas on the nose, reminiscent of black pepper. The palate is ripe red fruit with a smooth texture and a harmonious finish. This is one of the best Malbec wines we have tasted for a long time.
