Bury FC 2018/19 Season

Bury began their first summer back in League Two since 2014 by bringing an old face back into the fold, with the signing of Nicky Adams. The winger is embarking on his third spell with the Shakers, and has proven over the last few seasons that he is one of the best players in the country’s fourth division. Further comings and goings included the signings of Byron Moore, Will Aimson and Chris Dagnall strengthening the squad, while Popular fullback Greg Leigh departed the North West and the country entirely by signing for Dutch top flight side NEC Breda. Further departures included Chris Maguire, ending his nightmare spell at Gigg Lane to join Sunderland, and Callum Reilly leaving for Gillingham.

As the preseason programme began Bury travelled to Ibrox to face Rangers, and were handed a 6-0 beating in Steven Gerrard’s first game in charge. They then invited Premier League side Huddersfield to Gigg Lane, and this time suffered a 4-0 defeat. Four new additions were added prior to their next game, as non league strikers Jordan Archer and Gold Omotayo and Right Back Tom Miller all signed deals, and Matthew Hudson signed on loan. The Shakers then raised their performance levels in a 0-0 draw with Liverpool and a 1-1 draw with Everton, both Merseyside clubs fielding strong sides.

Two further transfers include Chris Stokes and Dom Telford. Overall it has been a very promising preseason for Bury, with some brilliant signings and performances, and Ryan Lowe will now turn his attention to the League opener against Yeovil.
