Bury FC 17/18 Season Summary

A brief summary of the Shakers 2017/18 season

Bury suffered one of their worst seasons in recent memory during the 17/18 campaign, with Lee Clark, Ryan Lowe, Chris Lucketti and then Ryan Lowe again all failing to turn the clubs fortune around. The 2017 summer window brought many new signings with considerable quality, Jermaine Beckford, Harry Bunn and Chris Maguire all raised expectations and Bury fans were looking forward to a promotion push. A close opening day win over Walsall was seen as a good start, but over the next three months
Bury picked up only two wins, leading to manager Lee Clark losing his job.
After a brief spell under caretaker Ryan Lowe, Chris Lucketti was appointed manager near the end of November, but by mid-January, the axe was wielded again and after 10 games and only one win was sacked.
Ryan Lowe was given the job until the end of the season, and after some big January transfers including George Miller and Conor Ripley, an upturn in form gave the Shakers hope. But it was too little too late and he could not prevent the shakers finishing bottom of the league, and therefore being relegated to League Two. After putting a tough season behind them, Ryan Lowe was given the job on a permanent basis, and his first act as manager was to sign Shakers hero Nicky Adams for his third spell at the club.
