April Review

After a thumping 5-1 loss away at Oxford at the end of March, followed by two disappointing home defeats to Bradford and Rochdale, League one survival was looking pretty ominous.

However, a gutsy away draw at local rivals Bolton and a brilliant 3-0 win against Northampton Town has all but secured Bury’s League One status for next season.

It was an entertaining performance as Bury deservedly took all three points at Gigg Lane in front of a bumper attendance of over 5,000. Two goals from striker James Vaughan taking his tally to 24 for the season and one from George Miller sealed the win. A late substitution by Lee Clarke allowed the home supporters to show their appreciation for their top goalscorer and also welcome Nathan Cameron back from his long-term injury for a last-minute appearance.

Bury’s last game of the season is at play off chasing Southend but the recent and well deserved four points should now have confirmed their place in League One next season.

Lee Clark has high hopes and expectations for the club, so roll on the new season – hopefully now in League One! Come On BURY!
