A Journey Of Excellent Opportunities

Bury Grammar School has a long and rich history of excellence since the 1570s and is proud of the long-standing traditions of being an open and inclusive community, which welcomes students and staff from different faiths and cultures. This is a source of great enrichment for the whole community and is what makes the School so special. The BGS journey begins in the coeducational Kindergarten from three years of age. The journey continues to the coeducational Infant School and then single sex education in Junior and Senior Schools. It culminates in the high-performing coeducational Sixth Form. Each one of the Schools has a caring family environment where each pupils is known and nurtured as an individual.

The opportunities provided for students at Bury Grammar School are wide and varied, and offer incredible experiences to supplement education standards – embracing sport, music, drama, debates, service to the community and outdoor pursuits.

The school utilises the new 3G all-weather pitches, an 18-metre indoor swimming pool and top quality sports facilities all set within the 45-acre school campus.

The vibrant and rigorous curriculum – both inside and outside the classroom – is designed to engage and challenge pupils whilst fostering intellectual curiosity and a love of learning. This approach translates into impressive academic performances and means that pupils leave BGS well-prepared for successful and happy lives beyond school. Most importantly, many pupils exceed individual expectations and go beyond what would have been thought possible for them.
